Newborn photography is something I passionately believe every family should invest in. Of course, I’m biased. But when I was preparing for the arrival of my baby; booking his newborn photos was on top of my list.
A baby is only truly new for such a short period of time, which is why any newborn photographer will recommend booking your photos before they are 2 weeks old.
Being a mum, I know how precious, hard, wonderful and tiring those first two weeks are. And having a newborn photoshoot is not a priority for everyone.
So, if you have missed the opportunity to have newborn photos taken, and you want to capture your baby whilst they are still teeny tiny; a baby photoshoot is an ideal alternative between newborn photos and first birthday photos.
What is the best age / stage to book baby photos?
Baby photos should ideally be taken when your baby can sit, but not crawl. At this stage, babies are so expressive and their little personalities are starting to come through. They’re starting to fill out and their little dimpled hands, rolly thighs and chubby cheeks are undeniably cute. It’s without a doubt one of my favourite ages to photograph!
By the time your baby is sitting, they’ve also mastered so many other skills such as grasping and have become much more social, meaning we can capture gorgeous images of them learning and playing through a baby photoshoot.

How can I book a baby photo shoot?
I offer baby photos, along with my newborn photography and cake smash sessions, in my home studio in Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim. Or if you would prefer to have these photos captured outdoors, this is absolutely an option for this age.
If you are seeking a baby photographer in Sligo, Fermanagh or Donegal; my studio is ~30 minutes travel from Sligo Town, Enniskillen and South Donegal towns Bundoran and Ballyshannon. I am also available for a limited number of at-home newborn photography shoots across Ireland where we can capture your newborn photos in the comfort of your own home.
