There’s something incredibly special about documenting family photos in Ireland and this is especially true when it’s part of a once-in-a-lifetime trip from the United States. This recent family photography session in Dingle, County Kerry was one I’ll remember for a long time.
We met along the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on the Dingle Peninsula for a sunset family session during the family’s visit to Ireland. Traveling from the U.S. with four young children — including one-year-old twins! — they completely embraced the experience, even with the typical Irish weather bringing chilly winds and passing rain showers throughout the evening.
As a family photographer in Ireland, these are often the sessions that become the most meaningful. The changing skies, the dramatic coastal scenery, and the relaxed approach to the evening all came together beautifully. Rather than waiting for “perfect” weather, they leaned into the experience of being on the Wild Atlantic Way with the people they love most.
One of the highlights of the session was capturing three generations together. The children’s grandparents had joined the trip, and it was incredibly special to document grandparents with their grandchildren against the backdrop of the Kerry coastline. These are the photographs that grow in value over time.
